Chief AJ's NRA Wing Shooting Camp

*How to put on a AJ bb Gun Trap Shoot

5/17/08 Wolf Creek State Park near Findlay, IL on Lake Shelbyville. The Sporting Event started with Chief AJ giving a Gun Safety lecture .

The Chief teaching the NRA position. (In this picture you can see the size of the Largest BB made the Chief AJ Daisy)

Then one at time, two shooters at time and even 4 shooters at time Chief AJ to boys and girls to hit a moving target with a moving AJ BB Gun. The game is to burst the flying clay as it comes through the 12' poles with a single bb.

Good coaching Chief!! Yes these two young men are having 12 GA fun with the AJ gun. The Chief AJ bb gun breaks the clays like a 12 ga shotgun, but with no noise or recoil.

The clay trap birds are coming out a standard trap thrower at 55mph and still going 35mph as they come through the 12' poles.

More coaching

Chief AJ get right down there to teach the little ones.

The first one to break a flying bird with the AJ BB gun gets a award of a Chief AJ logo bandana.

Here's two Lady shooters that did a good job of breaking clays.

The Sport Shooting Even went this way. All 150 shooters got a turn to warm up on the flying targets with coaching. Those that hit a bird advanced to the "BIG SHOOT OUT".  In the shoot out each shooter was given 3 birds and the best out of 3 would be the winner.  If several got 3 out of 3 they would have had a shoot off, BUT with over 40 shooing for First Place 8 (eight) year old John Higgs from Mason, IL was the only one to go straight and become the undisputed BB Gun Trap Shooting Champion. John was using the Full Adult Sized Chief AJ BB gun.

Here's Champion John Higgs with Chief AJ

Look at those happy faces of young people learning to shoot.

BB GUN TRAP SHOOTS FACTS:

The above shoot for 150 people cost about $100.00 for clay birds and BBs and went over 3 hours. A Do-All-Trap was use that does not require electrical power. All that is need is a field or woods about 50 yards deep and 20 yards wide. No noise and no recoil which is really important with fist time shooters. Today the shooters went away smiling.  These shoots are now being held coast to coast with AJ guns.

Proven again by the new 2008 BB GUN TRAP SHOOTING, JOHN HIGGS, is that the Chief AJ bb gun is a great training tool for marksmanship and wing shooting.

RIFLE CAMP

*How to put on a Chief AJ bb Gun Trap shoot.

What is needed:

1. 4 AJ bb guns (One will do it, but AJ likes to sell AJ bb guns)

2. Standard Clay Throwing Trap, electric, or manual. The Chief uses the "Do All 3/4 Cock Trap" that does not require AC or batters. Also the Trius Traps that you can sit on works. A trap house with fix trap sure can be used.

3. Standard 4" round domed Clay trap targets. Sold at WalMart and many other stores.

4. Chief AJ hi-end bbs.

5. 12 foot long poles: bamboo, 2 x 4's, cardboard tubes that come in a roll of new carpet free from most carpet stores. The Chief uses two 5' 2x4 stakes driven into the grown and then the 12' painted cardboard tubes are placed over the stakes. The 12 poles are erected 12 foot apart. There are the boundary markers. The clay birds must fly over head from the trap down range between the upright poles.

How to set up:

The trap is set up so that the clays are coming in over the head of the shooter. If using a fix trap like at a Trap Club, throw a bird and see where to erect the poles. The object is to have the clays fly over the shooter and NOT hit the shooter. About 6 to 10 feet above the shooters head.

How to Shoot:

The incoming clay trap bird takes a while to fly into range and the shooter if allowed to move around for a better shot at the bird while it is flying in.  When the bird is about 20 feet out the Shooter should be looking down the barrel of the AJ bb gun swinging with the bird. The AJ will break the birds out to 40 feet. You hit a moving target with a moving AJ BB gun.

How to Score:

A break or hole in the bird counts as a break. If a bird flies out side the of the poles it is a "NO BIRD", but if the shooter breaks it the bird is counter as a break or "Hit".

If there are many shooters - learning or practice can be done with 2 or 3 shooters in the poles at a time. Give each group about 5 birds and rotate in a drill.

Competition: One shooter at time. Throw 3 birds and the shooter must get one to advance. After all have a chance to get a bird out of 3. Have those who broke a bird go again for 3 birds. If some get 2 of 3 or 3 of 3 have a shoot off of those shooters. Use like 10 birds each in a shoot off.

Just for fun and learning to be a excellent wing shot: This AJ bb Gun trap shooting is a blast, cost little, makes no noise, has no recoil and can be done with two people. One shooter and one thrower taking turns. Or one person with a electric trap can stand down range of the trap and puch the button for birds and learn to be a great wing shot. If the birds can land on thick grass many can be used over.

Chief AJ has now as of 6/4/08 put on many AJ BB gun Trap Shoots and found that age 8 - 80 works. The Chief has started people doing AJ BB gun trap shoots from The Hamptons to Palm Springs and wants to hear from you when you try this, or put on a shoot: chiefaj@yahoo.com
