Ruger 10/22 Rifle Popularity Time Line:
1986: Chief AJ needed a 10/22 that would shoot dead on and have a decant trigger to shoot a World Record on aerial targets with. During the summer of ’86 Chief AJ began fine tuning the 10/22 just as He was taught to fine tune the M1 Rifle in the USMC.
1987: With fine
tuned Ruger 10/22’s Chief AJ shot and hit 40,060 flying targets with out a
miss from March 14-21, ’87. This event was sponsored by “GUNS” National
Magazine and hosted by Lost Valley Lake Resort deep in the Ozark Hills near 
1987 Sept: Chief AJ is put on the front cover of “GUNS” setting the new World Record shooting the fine tuned 10/22. That was when the Ruger 10/22 became Nationally known as a rifle that serious shooting could be done with.
1987 Oct: On Oct 22, 1987 Chief AJ held the first Rifle Training Camp using tricked out 10/22's to teach moving target marksmanship. (Running clay Jackrabbits and flying clay birds) That date is written 10/22.
1988: Many companies began make after market products for the 10/22 like stocks, banana magazines, sights, magazine releases, ect.
1989: Chief AJ first installs bull perineum barrels into the 10/22 action with oversized stocks.
1990: Over twenty companies start building up bull barrel 10/22’s.

1994: At the Shot Show in Dallas, TX Chief AJ puts on a $1,000.00 Shooting Challenge to all coping his highly accurate 10/22 Bull Barrel Super Chief Rifles. At the Dallas Rifle Range Chief AJ shoots a 10 shot group, 50 yards in 30 seconds that measured .238 defeating all chandlers. This was written up in “The New Gun Week” Feb 25, 1994. This let the Nation know that the 10/22 can out shoot bolt action .22’s. (Group shown shot with CCI Green Tag ammo)
